CULVER CITY, CA – May 2, 2016 – getTV deploys an A-list lineup of Golden Age classics this May, featuring thrilling war epics, sidesplitting comedies, and star-studded dramas, airing in primetime all month long. The roster includes a month of war-time favorites starring Humphrey Bogart, Steve McQueen, and Jack Lemmon, every Thursday in May, in honor of Memorial Day; as well as a Mothers’ Day block featuring Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, and Lucille Ball, among others; and birthday blocks celebrating John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, and Frank Capra.

War Epics—Every Thursday in May, at 8 p.m. ET
getTV salutes the troops with eight war epics, airing every Thursday in May at 7 p.m. ET. The month-long event includes Humphrey Bogart in SAHARA, and Cameron Mitchell in OKINAWA (May 5); William Bendix in BATTLE STATIONS, and Jose Ferrer in THE COCKLESHELL HEROES (May 12); Jack Lemmon in OPERATION MAD BALL, and Steve McQueen in THE WAR LOVER (May 19); Burt Lancaster in CASTLE KEEP, and Kirk Douglas in THE HEROES OF TELEMARK (May 26). Additionally, getTV will air a special Memorial Day TOUR OF DUTY marathon, featuring 13 episodes of the 1987 Vietnam War drama starring Terence Knox and Tony Becker, on Monday, May 30, starting at 7 a.m. ET.
Mothers’ Day Marathon—Sun., May 8 at 6 p.m. ET
getTV celebrates some of Hollywood’s most beloved moms in a special Mothers’ Day variety block, kicking off with funny woman Moms Mabley on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW at 6 p.m. ET, and folk rock icon Mama Cass in the psychedelic 1968 special ANDY WILLIAMS’ KALEIDOSCOPE COMPANY at 7 p.m. ET. Next, Merv Griffin sits down with influential comedienne Lucille Ball and her children, Lucie and Desi Arnaz Jr., on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW at 8 p.m. ET, followed by mother-daughter duo Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli in an unforgettable episode of THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW at 9 p.m. ET. Then, Merv welcomes Jayne Mansfield and her children—including four-year-old daughter Mariska Hargitay—to THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW at 10 p.m. ET. The block closes with country pioneer Dolly Parton performing a set of mountain standards with her parents and siblings on DOLLY, at 11 p.m. ET.
Barbara Stanwyck & Frank Capra—Fri., May 13 at 8 p.m. ET
getTV honors Oscar-winning auteur Frank Capra five days before his birthday, with a pair of classics starring Barbara Stanwyck as a missionary who falls for a Chinese warlord in THE BITTER TEA OF GENERAL YEN. Then, Stanwyck’s past threatens her romance with a young painter in LADIES OF LEISURE, at 10:05 p.m. ET.
Glenn Ford—Tues., May 17 at 8 p.m. ET
getTV presents Glenn Ford in a night of Noir, starring as a war hero on the run from the mob in MR. SOFT TOUCH, with Evelyn Keyes. And Ford tracks down a tax-evading crime boss in THE UNDERCOVER MAN, with Nina Foch, at 10:15 p.m. ET.
Jimmy Stewart—Sun., May 20 at 8 p.m. ET
Jimmy Stewart headlines a classic two-pack, as an Army Major tasked with stopping Japanese troops from advancing into China in THE MOUNTAIN ROAD. And Stewart stars as an ex-con whose attempts to settle down are thwarted by corrupt warden George Kennedy in FOOLS’ PARADE, with Kurt Russell, at 10:30 p.m. ET. Stewart would have celebrated his 108th birthday on May 20.
Elizabeth Taylor—Sun., May 27 at 8 p.m. ET
getTV puts the spotlight on Elizabeth Taylor, starring as a teen who witnessed her cousin’s shocking murder in SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER, with Katharine Hepburn; Taylor and Hepburn’s performances both earned Best Actress Oscar® nominations. And Taylor stars as a Golden Age actress attempting a comeback in THERE MUST BE A PONY, with Robert Wagner, at 10:45 p.m. ET.
John Wayne—Sat., May 28 at 7 p.m. ET
Saddle up with Western hero John Wayne in three of his earliest films, starring as a rancher accused of killing his rival in RANGE FEUD, with Buck Jones. Then, Wayne plays sidekick to Tim McCoy in the 1932 adventures TEXAS CYCLONE, at 8:30 p.m. ET, and TWO-FISTED LAW, at 10 p.m. ET. Wayne would have turned 109 on May 26.
Grace Moore—Tues., May 31 at 8 p.m. ET
Cinema siren Grace Moore shines in two musicals from 1937, starring as a singer who marries artist Cary Grant so she can get a visa in WHEN YOU’RE IN LOVE. And Melvyn Douglas goes to desperate measures to get Moore to sing at his theatre in I’LL TAKE ROMANCE, at 10:30 p.m. ET.
