CULVER CITY, CA – Monday, February 29, 2016 – Start the week with getTV, as the network delivers an unprecedented Monday Night Variety lineup in March, packed with unforgettable performances, charming skits, and insightful interviews, airing every week starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This month’s roster includes classic episodes of THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW featuring appearances by Bobby Darin, Bob Newhart, and Ethel Merman; rare specials starring Dolly Parton, Mitzi Gaynor, Jim Nabors, and Andy Williams at 9 p.m. ET; followed by some of THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW’s most iconic episodes at 10 p.m. ET, with special guests George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Jerry Lewis, John Wayne, Joan Crawford, and more.
getTV’s March Monday Night Variety Block schedule is as follows:
March 7
8 p.m. ET: Judy Garland joins Vic Damone for a night of music featuring tunes from the 1955 musical KISMET.
9 p.m. ET: Jim Nabors welcomes trailblazing comedienne Carol Burnett to THE JIM NABORS HOUR, as the two close friends, and frequent collaborators, spoof THE LONE RANGER and the World Series, and sing a medley of love songs.
10 p.m. ET: Hollywood wives open up about life, love, and allowances, and sport some groovy ‘70s fashion styles on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, with Joanna Carson (Johnny Carson), Maggie Johnson (Clint Eastwood), Altovise Davis (Sammy Davis Jr.), Candy Spelling (Aaron Spelling) & Catherine Hawn (Dean Martin), among others.
March 14
8 p.m. ET: Judy goes toe-to-toe with Jazz siren Peggy Lee, followed by a blend of Broadway standards with Jack Carter, and a fun “Tea For Two” segment with writer and producer Carl Reiner.
9 p.m. ET: Songsmith Andy Williams reflects on his favorite collaborations in the compilation special ANDY WILLIAMS: MY FAVORITE DUETS, featuring performances with Julie Andrews, Pearl Bailey, Bing Crosby, Ray Charles, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, and many more.
10 p.m. ET: Merv Griffin sits down with singer Frankie Laine, future HEE HAW star Minnie Pearl, “The King of One-Liners” Henny Youngman, and stand-up legend George Carlin.
March 21
8 p.m. ET: Judy Garland rocks and rolls with two beloved Bobs at 8 p.m. ET, putting her trademark wit on display in a comedy sketch with Bob Newhart, and a medley of standards with crooner Bobby Darin.
9 p.m. ET: Country bombshell Dolly Parton performs a myriad of hits with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, a decade before their GRAMMY®-winning collaboration, Trio, on the 1976 series DOLLY.
9:30 p.m. ET: Dolly reconnects with her roots as her parents and siblings join her for a priceless sing-a-long of the mountain songs they grew up with.
10 p.m. ET: Merv Griffin gabs with 26-year-old Richard Pryor about his trip to Hollywood, and laughs with Jerry Lewis, in an evening that also includes hit rock n’ roll duo The Everly Brothers. The episode airs as part of getTV’s tribute to Jerry Lewis, who celebrates his 90th birthday on March 16.
March 28
8 p.m. ET: getTV presents one of the most incredible moments in the history of THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW, as Judy blazes through a friendship medley with musical queen Ethel Merman, before bringing the house down with an emotionally charged rendition of “Battle Hymn Of The Republic”—a heartfelt tribute to President John F. Kennedy, who was killed just weeks before the taping.
9 p.m. ET: Acclaimed show-woman Mitzi Gaynor shines in the 1969 variety show MITZI’S 2ND SPECIAL, as she sings and dances her way through Broadway favorites alongside WILD, WILD WEST star Ross Martin.
10 p.m. ET: Golden Age icons take over THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, as the talk show pioneer presents Photoplay Awards to John Wayne, Joan Crawford, Robert Vaughn, Peggy Wood, and more. The episode airs as part of the network’s birthday salute to Joan Crawford.
