CULVER CITY, CA – Friday, August 26, 2016 – getTV gets you through the dog days of summer with a September lineup of cinematic favorites featuring award-winning dramas, side-splitting comedies, and beloved stars. The month includes a special IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT Labor Day Marathon; as well as a final salute to THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW; a new Monday Night Variety Block featuring the addition of Sonny & Cher at 8 p.m. ET; and modern classics starring Sylvester StalloneBrad PittRobert Redford and Matt Damon; among others.

IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT Labor Day Marathon—Mon., September 5 at 6 a.m. ET

Spend the day with the brave law enforcement officers of Sparta, Mississippi, in this special IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT Labor Day Marathon featuring every two-hour episode from the acclaimed series starring Carroll O’ConnorAlan AutryHoward E. Rollins Jr., and Carl Weathers. The lineup opens with the original 1988 pilot episode at 6 a.m. ET, and also includes “The Leftover Man,” directed by Larry Hagman, at 9 a.m. ET; “Give Me Your Life,” with Peter Fonda, at 10 a.m. ET; “A Matter Of Justice,” with George C. Scott, at 12 p.m. ET; “Who Was Geli Bendl?,” also directed by Larry Hagman, with guest star George Wallace, at 2 p.m. ET; “By Duty Bound,” with Corbin Bernsen, at 4 p.m. ET; and “Grow Old Along With Me,” at 6 p.m. ET.

 

Goodbye Judy—Mon., September 5 at 8 p.m. ET

getTV’s Monday Variety Block bids farewell to Judy Garland with a trio of unforgettable episodes of THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW. The night begins at 8 p.m. ET, as the song-and-dance star blazes through a medley of standards alongside Steve Allen and Mel Tormé. Next, Judy tackles trademark tunes from Porgy And Bess with Vic Damone, and decks the halls with a festive holiday medley with Zina Bethune at 9 p.m. ET. Then, at 10 p.m. ET, Judy goes toe-to-toe with Jazz siren Peggy Lee, performs Broadway hits with Jack Carter, and sits down for a “Tea For Two” segment with Carl Reiner.

 

CLIFFHANGER (1993)—Sun., September 11 at 7:45 p.m. ET

Action icon Sylvester Stallone stars as a climbing expert coerced into helping thieves track down $100 million dollars in the Rocky Mountains, in this mile-high thriller directed by Renny HarlinJohn Lithgow and Michael Rooker also star.

 

Sonny & Cher—Every Monday at 8 p.m. ET, Starting September 12

One of America’s most celebrated duos comes to getTV, as Sonny & Cher take over the Monday Night Variety Block each week at 8 p.m. ET. This month’s roster includes three classic episodes of THE SONNY AND CHER COMEDY HOUR, featuring Jimmy Durante in the original 1971 series premiere (September 12); ALL IN THE FAMILY star Jean Stapleton (September 19); and beloved funnyman Andy Griffith (September 26).

 

THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW: Season 2—Every Monday at 10 p.m. ET, Starting September 12

getTV continues its tribute to THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, putting the spotlight on some of the groundbreaking talk show’s most classic episodes from the ‘70s and ‘80s every Monday at 10 p.m. ET. This month boasts a trio of star-studded episodes, kicking off with singer-songwriter Barry Manilow in an early appearance, as well as comedy power couple Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara (September 12); followed by GOLDEN GIRLS stars Betty WhiteRue McClanahanBea Arthur, and Estelle Getty (September 19); and folk icon John Denver (September 26).
