LA BAMBA (1987)—7:45 p.m. ET

Lou Diamond Phillips shines in his career-defining turn as rock n’ roll pioneer Ritchie Valens, in this critically acclaimed biopic that follows the teenage phenom from his humble beginnings in Pacoima, CA, his meteoric rise to rock stardom, his relationship with his brother, and the tragic plane crash that claimed his life on what would come to be known as “The Day The Music Died.” Esai Morales, Elizabeth Peña, and Joe Pantoliano also star.

THE SONNY AND CHER COMEDY HOUR (1973)—10 p.m. ET & 11 p.m. ET

10 p.m. ET—getTV presents a pair of 1973 episodes of THE SONNY AND CHER SHOW, featuring a raucous rock number as beloved duo Sonny & Cher are joined by Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Frankie Valli, and Bobby Vinton on “I Dig Rock N’ Roll Music,” launching into a medley of hits that includes Lewis’ “Great Balls Of Fire” and “High School Confidential,” Berry’s “School Days” and “Reelin’ & Rockin’,” Valli’s “Walk Like A Man,” and Vinton’s “Blue On Blue.”

Andy Williams puts his crooning ways to the side in favor of the swingin’ rock sounds of the 1960s, with a night of classics featuring duets with Simon & Garfunkel; Burt Bacharach; Mama Cass, in her first performance since leaving The Mamas & The Papas; and the incomparable Ray Charles, who talks about his training in classical music, plays “The Mess Around,” and dazzles the crowd with a roaring saxophone solo.

THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR (1967)—1 a.m. ET & 2 a.m. ET

1 a.m. ET—Dynamic rock n’ roll revolutionaries The Who bring their powerhouse sound to THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR, performing their standout songs “I Can See For Miles” and “My Generation” in an explosive set. Golden Age icons Bette Davis and Mickey Rooney also star.

2 a.m. ET—Folk favorites Simon & Garfunkel perform their newest hit single “59^TH Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)” with Tom and Dick Smothers, and play “Cloudy” in a music video-style segment 14 years before MTV. Blonde bombshell Janet Leigh also stars in this special Mother’s Day episode.

CHER (1975)—3 a.m. ET & 4 a.m. ET

3 a.m. ET—Groundbreaking rock icon David Bowie shines in a 1975 episode of CHER, as the genre-defying showman performs his first #1 single “Fame,” before joining Cher on “Can You Hear Me,” and a “Young Americans” medley that blends Bowie’s hit with “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Day Tripper,” “Blue Moon,” and other timeless songs.

4 a.m. ET—Cher welcomes a star-studded roster of talented guests to the stage in this 1975 episode that finds her going toe-to-toe with Broadway Queen Bette Midler in a “Trashy Ladies” Medley; as well as a charming skit featuring elderly versions of Midler, Cher, Elton John, and Flip Wilson reliving their glory days in a nursing home for the stars; and a rousing finale with Midler, Cher, John, and Wilson performing hits such as “Mockingbird,” “Proud Mary,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” among others.

THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW (1966)—5 a.m. ET

Acclaimed steel-string siblings The Everly Brothers bring their soulful sound to THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, playing their signature hit “Bye Bye Love,” before sitting down with the talk show legend to discuss their family life and their time in England. The night also includes interviews with comedy heroes Jerry Lewis and Richard Pryor, who was just 26 years old at the time.
